Tranche 3 - Status of Implementation Progress*

Tranche 3 will continue expanding sewerage and drainage services in selected peripheral areas of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) to at least 3,000 additional households and provide sewage treatment for at least 100,000 households covered under Kolkata Environmental Improvement Investment Program. It will construct (i) at least 43 km of additional sewer drain pipes; (ii) four pumping stations and at least 13 km of pumping mains and one existing pumping station upgraded; and (iii) three sewage treatment plants, with at least 115 million liters per day combined capacity.

Main components

  • The proposed STP will cater to the DWF generated from wards 125, 126, 144 and parts of ward 123, 124 and 143 under Borough XVI and 127 (Borough XIV). The population of the catchment for the design horizon (2030) is 2,57,882 and its total catchment is approximately 1444 Ha, which will serve as the command area for the proposed STP.
  • The site of the proposed STP is located off the Diamond Harbour Road in ward no. 144 in South Kolkata primarily identified as Joka, the complete command area of the WBSETCL STP

  • Construction of new pumping station in the premises of Node C, Sukuntala Park, Behala After Demolishing of Existing Infrastructure Pumping station shall be constructed in the premises of Node C, Sukuntala Park, Behala. There is an existing DWF pumping station in the said premises. The pumping station was constructed under Ganga Action Plan. The sewerage and drainage (S &D) works in the catchment area of the pumping station have already been implemented and system is functioning. The new pumping station is proposed to be constructed by dismantling the existing PS including the annular sump, dry pit and pump house superstructure
